"Life must go on!"... or in the show Moulin Rouge, "The show must go on!", I like the millions of people in Malaysia, have to go back to, whats the word.... WORK!!!

Yes, finally holiday's over.... it's just like when you are kids, and you get this long long holidays at the end of the year... where thru-out the whole holiday, you just watch cartoons day-in-day-out, go out and play day-in-day-out, you get to do nothing and everything... well... that's the feeling I got now....

So... instead of just lying at home doing nothing (and besides the great Streamyx is not working at my house since last week, and after all the screaming at the TMNet technical people on the phone, it still doesn't work....), I decided to go watch movie... Simpsons, the movie... great laugh... well watching at 3pm in the afternoon where every working people are working... sitting in between two teenage boys (college students I guess), the one on the right with his funky (do they still use that word) hairstyle, and the one on the right with a chain hanging on his pants (maybe to secure his wallet... millionaire's kid maybe) who keeps on looking at me (what is this old fella doing watching kids' movie at 3 in the afternoon, he must be thinking?).

The show's great.. but it finishes too soon... I am in a mall... at 4:30pm and my wife only needs fetching from work after 6pm. What do I do?

I called my wife, asking whether it is possible for her to ask her office to stop working now, which of course is a ridiculous request. She told me to go visit all the boutiques and look at dresses for her.... haha....

So, here I am, sitting in Starbucks, on my pc... typing this... me on my old dell... everyone besides are below 30, with pc so shiny you can see your reflection on it and comb your hair straight. Mine's old and dusty (if you blow over the keyboard, I bet you can see a slight sand-storm on it, scary!)... Well between walking into boutiques looking at dresses (people might get the wrong impression of me) and sitting here, among youngsters, displaying their nice assets (i.e. new laptops/notebooks, with small screen, shiny casing, etc, etc.), I go for embarrasing myself showing people my old huge black dusty notebook, while sipping hot tea in a big starbuck's mug...

cheers!!!!

House Husband!

What do you do when you are at home all day? Don't have to go to work. Just send your wife to work in the morning, then you have the whole day to yourself. So what do you do? This is me being a part-time house-husband.... (since I am onleave for a month... yeah!)

Watch Astro. Tune in to whatever channel that suits you. Pull out the small mattress and lie down the whole day, watching TV. Be a couch potato. It can be the english comedies in BBCE channels, any documentaries in Discovery Channel, or any repeat shows on AXNs or StarTV (all those that I have seen the night before).

Turn on the PC, and trade shares online on Maybank2U. Well... thanks to the technology, you can do all these without going out of the house and without calling the remisier everytime. You can buy/sell, cancel, change anytime and you are updated all the time in real time.

While looking at the online shares, I let my CashFiesta run. Hoping these internet cash thing really works. Currently, I only have USD11, and I have to get USD50 first before they send me the cheque (Hopefully!)

Think of what to have for lunch.... sometimes, it would just be maggi mee, or whatever special recipes my wife will email me from her office.

Do whatever odd jobs at home, say wash the dishes, clean a toilet/bathroom, water the garden outside, do some laundry.

Recipe for Chicken Yee Mee!

Tired of rice, I asked my wife for a noodle recipe. I maybe a 30-something-year-old guy, but I like Harry Potter. J.K. Rowling's story telling is so good... it just mesmerize you everytime you read a Harry Potter book. You can never let the book down until you have read it all to the end.

I bought the first three books from Amazon.com. Yes, I got into the Harry Potter craze late. I was so into the books, that I finished all three books in record time of within a week. Well after that, it felt like 'what else'.... no more Harry Potter.... luckily the movies came out.

Then came Book 4... I got it the first day it was out for sale...
Then Book 5.... also I got it the first day it was out for sale...
I got Book 6 late but nevertheless I got the hardcover...

Tomorrow... Book 7 (the last in the series, the one where Harry Potter is supposed to die or something like that, though I prefer him to be alive and to take up a career in Hogwarths as a teacher or something, Voldermort dies, etc. etc.) is out for sale. 21 July 7am... thats when Book 7 is out for sale in all the book stores in KL.... it's a Saturday... should I wake up early and join long queues just to get the book? Do I think the Harry Potter craze is so great like in the States or other countries that all Book 7 will be finished within hours after they are out for sale? Do I wait a little longer for the paperbacks which is cheaper? Or can I wait to know what happen to Harry Potter?

The Harry Potter movies... Yes, I watched it all.... I even got my wife to watch the movies and she loves it too.... Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix (Book 5) premiers in Malaysian cinemas on 11 July 2007. Me, being sick, did't get a chance to watch it yet. Today (yes, after feeling bit better), I tried online booking, and guess what, all cinemas for the Harry Potter movie are fully booked!!! What? even after 9 days???

Conclusion:

Must watch Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix in cinemas (while it is still shown in cinemas)

Must buy Book 7 asap!!!!

Doctor! Can you trust them?

Doctors!!!

Dictionary.com gives the definition (one of the definitions) of Doctor as a person licensed to practice medicine, as a physician, surgeon, dentist, or veterinarian. As a verb, doctor means to give medical treatment to; act as a physician to; to treat (an ailment); apply remedies to; to restore to original or working condition; repair; mend; to practice medicine.

That just means, when you are sick, the person you go to to get treated is the doctor. Just like when your car is not running, you call the mechanic. If the wiring in your house is always shorted, you call the electrician. If a person wants to become pretty, she (always a she) goes to the beautician. If your hair is out of shape, the hairdresser is who you look for.

So, when a person is sick, you go to the doctor! A General Practitioner.

That's what I did when I started getting sick almost a month ago. Some little cough and slight fever, I went to see a doctor. Which doctor? I select the doctor based on which clinic has the most patients. I drove around town, and looking at a few clinics. Saw one with a lot of patients."Nevermind the wait, he should be a good doctor", I thought.

So, despite all the almost half hour waiting for my turn and feeling cold while waiting in the air-conditioned waiting room, my session with Doctor Selva (General Practitioner/GP) lasted only about 5 minutes, ending up with the doctor just giving me some cough syrups, antibiotics, and some Panadol. OK, he's the doctor, so what he gives me should be OK.

And so life goes on, I finished my medicines, and my cough got worse and I even have short of breath everytime I walk a distance longer or do a little bit of hard work. This was almost 10 days after my first visit to Doctor Selva.

What was wrong? Maybe I didn't get enough rest. Maybe I had a few beers while still on medication. My fault, my fault... I have to see Doctor Selva again... He knows my medical history, and I should see him again.

So... again go to Doctor Selva. I told him I finished his medicines, and I was not getting better. I have difficulty breathing. My whole body aches, etc. etc. Again he told me something, something. My nose was blocked. I was breathing through my mouth. The phlegm is causing me the cough. That's why I wasn't breathing properly. OK... again I was given some medicine... stronger ones than the last one, said Doctor Selva. Well, he's the one with the title 'Doctor', what he said must be correct.

Again, life goes on, I finished my medicines again, and my cough got worse again and I still have short of breath everytime I walk a distance longer or do a little bit of hard work, or even walking up the stairs to my bedroom. This was a week after my second visit to Doctor Selva.

Hmmmm.... what's wrong? This cannot be this bad. And so, I return to see mighty, clever, Doctor Selva again. Well, he knows what medicines I have taken, so it is only right I go see him again. This time was after I had serious cough episodes, and I was stuck in bed the whole day.

So... again to Doctor Selva. Same thing, I told him I finished his medicines, and I was not getting better. This time he recommended an injection so that I'll get better faster. OK, I risked showing off my buttocks for the injection. Then, he recommended a chest x-ray. I got the chest x-ray at his clinic. When he looked at the x-ray film, he congratulated me saying that I don't have cancer or Tuberculosis (TB). I don't have to worry.
Again, I was given the same type of medicines (but stronger, so he said). I asked for two days of Sick Leave, but Doctor Selva gives me only one day, telling me that I should be fine by the end of the day.

OK... I better get home and rest and take all those medicines. Trusting all the Doctor had said.

After a day of rest, laying in bed the whole day. Getting up just to go to the toilet and to the kitchen to take my medicines. My cough got worse. By night time, my breathing got really worse. I cannot even walk to the kitchen without stopping for five minutes to catch my breath. It was so bad. By bedtime, my wife asked me to go upstairs to sleep. I managed to waked upstairs but by the time I reached my bedroom, my breathing was so bad. I was panting for air. My whole body was sick. I wanted serious help!!!

Not Doctor Selva!!! He said I was to be fine by the end of the day, instead I felt like I was in space with no air to breath. I was practically panting for air. Like I was drowning. I need oxygen!!! No more Doctor Selva!!!

That's when my wife brought me to a medical centre. I was given oxygen mask to breath.
Showed the doctor there the chest x-ray, was told some lung infection, and I should have gone to a specialist for treatment much earlier. Well, Doctor Selva never told me that! He assumed I was OK! or he just wanted me to go back to his clinic again (so he can charged me more). I needed to go to the Hospital to be warded. I was on a stretcher then. Got on an ambulance, and sent to a Hospital.
I was warded for a week. Nurse, in and out, giving me medicines, checking my blood pressure and all.
Always on oxygen supply and nebulizer, and lots of injection.
Now, I am discharged from the Hospital. Thanks to the Doctor there (but then that's a Respitaratory Specialist, and not a GP!), I am getting better now!

Summary:

If you don't know how to treat someone, shouldn't you just refer to others, like a specialist.

If you fail to treat someone after a few times, shouldn't you just stop and refer to a specialist.

If a Doctor doesn't know how to read an x-ray film or if a Doctor just assume from an x-ray film, shouldn;t he be allowed at all to have an x-ray machine in his clinic, and give false report to patients.

A General Practitioner in a Clinic... he just want you to visit him more so that he can charge you extra for everything, for the medicine, for the injection shot, for the x-ray, for whatever bull-s*#t that he assumes he knows about that's wrong with a patient.

What do one do in such case??? Can this doctor be sued or reported and have his license taken/cancelled?

<link rel='alternate' type='text/html' href='http://juzcoffee.blogspot.com/2007/07/doctor-can-you-trust-them.html' title='Doctor!
